Summer Camps - Pre-K

June 9th - 13th, 9:00 - 12:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
Our “Thyme Travelers” camp is an opportunity to learn about all things culinary arts and science. Each day holds opportunities for art, physical activity, gardening, and cooking. In the Garden, we will care for our beds, plus harvest, prepare and cook food. Typical early crops include: herbs, greens, and radishes. Each day, campers will learn about team building, sportsmanship, recipe creation, preparation, and execution. We will explore cuisine from various countries around the world as we use local foods to prepare.

June 16th - 20th, 9:00 - 12:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
Our “Arts in the Garden” Week explores our natural world as art. Each day will hold opportunities for art, physical activity and gardening. We will forage and gather items to create art pieces such as nature mandalas, self-portraits and landscapes. We will explore painting floral still life with our Garden backdrop. We will incorporate art as movement, through dance; art as music, with new instruments incorporated in the garden space; and food as edible art, preparing food from the garden. We will tend our rainbow garden and plant vegetables in the Children’s Garden planters. Each day campers will learn about art as an expression of creativity and imagination.

June 23rd - 27th, 9:00 - 12:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
During our ”Cycle the Cycles” week we will delve into life cycles in the garden including fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, decomposition, the water cycle, the carbon cycle (soil and energy), and recycling itself. Campers will learn about reuse and practice their art skills. We will stay active in the garden, play games, and ultimately learn how to incorporate sustainability into our day-to-day cycle of life.

Durante nuestra semana “Ciclando los Ciclos,” los campistas explorarán los ciclos de vida del jardín, incluyendo frutas, vegetales, flores, y hierbas, como también la decomposición, el ciclo de agua,  la energía de la tierra propia, y reciclaje. Campistas practicarán sus habilidades artísticas. Mientras jugamos en el jardín, aprenderemos como incorporar sostenibilidad en nuestras vidas diarias. También teniremos ropa usando tenidos naturales, crearemos arte usando materiales reciclables, y tendremos experiencia practica con los cycles que ocurren en el jardín. Cada dia ofrece oportunidades para aprendizaje, actividad física, y jardinería.

June 30th - July 3rd, 9:00 - 12:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
“Garden Wonders and Legends” camp is an opportunity for campers to use their imaginations and the Garden as inspiration as we create stories and art.  We will understand the history of gardening in the U.S.A., such as Victory Gardens and how gardening became seen as a form of patriotism. We will spend our time planting in our own Victory garden bed and cooking in our outdoor kitchen. In addition, we will be tending to Garden beds, harvesting and creating recipes while preparing food from the garden. Campers will also learn about herbs and mindfulness, and the metaphorical connections between plant nature and human nature. We will spend time in our Imagination Area, tending our beds and completing our geometric build out. Each day will hold opportunities for art, physical activity and gardening. 

July 14th - 18th, 9:00 - 12:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
“Garden Arts & Culture” week explores nature as art and how both shape our local culture. Each day holds opportunities for art, physical activity, and gardening. We will be foraging and gathering items and using them to create art pieces while we explore Park City and Summit County history. 

We will learn about cultural gardening practices with Artes de Mexico en Utah. We will tend our Garden beds, harvest and prepare food from our garden, and learn about how food is a central part of culture. Each day campers will learn about local art, food systems, and history, with special guest visitors helping us tie it all together.

July 21st - 25th, 9:00 - 3:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
Our “Digging and Discovering” camp is an exciting new opportunity with our merged organization. The combination of Summit Community Gardens and EATS is what is on the menu! We will explore the garden: tending our beds, weeding, harvesting, preparing food, and cooking fresh garden produce. Seed-to-table experiences are at the heart of our combined organization. Campers will understand the food cycle through hands-on activities and learn about pioneering methods (the people who settled in Utah) and the values they infused into our collective culture (self-sufficiency, preparedness). We will engage in daily cooking opportunities with beautiful, fresh, local, and seasonal produce. Each day holds opportunities for learning, physical activity, food prep, art, and gardening. 

July 28th - August 1st, 9:00 - 3:00 pm
Rising 1st graders through 6th graders
“A Week in the Life of a Gardener” focuses on our food system, using our beautiful Garden as a classroom. Each day holds opportunities for learning, art, physical activity, gardening, and food preparation. We will learn about sustainable agricultural models, regenerative soil practices, and local food systems. We will explore demonstration beds in the center of the Garden, helping with the weekly harvest for the Food Farmacy. Campers will have hands-on experiences to help understand the importance of growing and preparing their own food. 

August 4th - 8th, 9:00 - 3:00 pm
Age 3 - rising 1st graders
Join us to celebrate another successful Garden camp season in our final session, “Best of the Garden!” It’s a Garden wrap-up, where we will celebrate and revisit the most engaging, fun parts of all our summer garden camps. Our ‘greatest hits’ session provides an overview of everything that makes our Garden camps awesome: the pollinators, the compost, the garden beds, the harvesting – and of course, our outdoor cooking sessions. Each day will be full of recreation, art, gardening, tasting, and team-building activities.

Únase a nosotros para celebrar otra exitosa temporada de campamentos en el jardín en nuestra sesión final, “¡Lo mejor del Jardín!” Es un resumen del jardín, donde volveremos a visitar las partes más interesantes y divertidas de todos nuestros campamentos de verano en el jardín. Nuestra sesión de "grandes éxitos" brinda una descripción general de todo lo que hace que nuestros campamentos de jardín sean increíbles: los polinizadores, el abono, los parterres, la cosecha y, por supuesto, nuestras sesiones de cocina al aire libre. Cada día estará lleno de actividades de recreación, arte, jardinería, degustación y trabajo en equipo.
