Join us in the Garden in 2025!
Join Summit County’s only community garden! Gardening at high altitude has its challenges, but so many rewards, especially when you are in community with other growers. While you look forward to fresh flowers, vegetables, and herbs, you learn from other gardeners and share your own tips, make new friends, connect with nature, and participate in garden events. Our Garden staff is there to support you.
The Garden embodies values of inclusivity, community, food security, and education.
Gardening Organically
Summit Community Gardens is committed to organic gardening and requires the same from our gardeners. The use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides is not allowed. A garden plot is a commitment of time and constant effort. You should expect to spend 2-3 hours a week during the season.
Reserving and Renewing Your Garden Plot
Assignment of garden plots is first-come, first served. The standard plot will be approximately 4’ by 16’.
Community gardeners must volunteer a minimum of 8 hours each season. If you cannot make this commitment, you can purchase a “Volunteer Waiver.”
Gardeners who maintain their plots, volunteer, and abide by community norms may renew their same plot for the following season.
Reserve your plot today! Plots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are a returning plot renter you will be assigned the same garden plot unless otherwise requested. The standard plot will be approximately 4’ by 16’.
Each community gardener contributes a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer hours to help maintain the common areas. No time to complete these hours? No problem, purchase a “Volunteer Waiver” for $160.
Get ahead of the game and donate early to the gardens as part of Live PC Give PC!
Weed and Maintenance Policy
Our goal is to create a space for you all to garden together. In an attempt to decrease the number of unmaintained garden plots, we have instituted a new policy. Please take time to read our weed maintenance policy for 2025:
All plots must be ready for planting by June 10 - This includes activities such as weeding, tarping, planting, or any other activity
If there is no activity by Father’s Day (June 15), a warning will be sent out to unmaintained plots
If there is no activity by July 1st, the plot will be given to the waitlist unless other arrangements have been made.
