Curious Cooks runs during Park City School District’s various after-school programs and rotates between the 4 elementary schools
Curious Cooks is Summit Community Gardens + EATS’ cooking series for elementary age children that participate in the district’s after-school programs. SCG + EATS cooks with this age group EVERY FRIDAY! With kindergarteners thriving during sensory activities and 5th graders completely capable of reading and following most recipes, SCG + EATS is able to adapts our lessons to encompass the whole age group. This edible education reaches the 500 children that participate in PCSD after-school programs, half of whom qualify for the school district’s lunch program. These classes focus on the food cycle, the basics of cooking, and taste tests to expand palates. Our interactive cooking classes get students excited about food and nutrition. With repeated exposure food preparation and cooking, through hands-on learning, these students leave class with a basic knowledge of food preparation and how best to fuel their bodies.
